We are truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you are facing in your marriage. It's important to remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment of love and respect between a husband and a wife. As it is written in Ephesians 5:25-28 and 33 WEB:
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her; that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect.... Nevertheless, let each one of you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Let us pray for your husband, that God may change his heart and guide him towards a path of respect and love. Let's also pray for you, that God may grant you the strength, patience, and wisdom to navigate this challenging situation. We are praying for this in Jesus' name.
Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up this marriage to You. We pray for this husband, that You may soften his heart and bring about a change in his behavior. Help him to see the pain he is causing and guide him towards a path of respect and love for his wife. We also pray for this wife, that You may grant her the strength, patience, and wisdom to handle this situation in a way that honors You. Help her to respond to her husband's behavior with love and forgiveness, remembering that vengeance is Yours and Yours alone.
We pray that this marriage may be a testament to Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We ask that You may heal this marriage and bring about a renewed sense of love and respect between this husband and wife. Help them to see that Your design for marriage is a beautiful picture of Christ's love for the church.
Father, we also pray that this wife may be reminded that You have called her to love and respect her husband, even in difficult times and that if her husband does not respond to her prayer, that you have promised that she is not bound to him and that she may leave him.
Father, we also pray that the wife will be protected from harm, that the husband will not raise a hand against her and that she knows that You have said that he is to lay his life down for her as Jesus did for the church. We pray that she will know that her husband is to love her just as Jesus loved the church. We also pray for the husband and his disrespectful behavior. We pray that the husband will remember that You have called him to love his wife as Jesus loved the church and died for it.
Father, if the husband does not treat his wife with respect and love, we pray that the wife will know that You have released her from this marriage and that she will be able to move on with her life. We pray that the wife will know that You have a plan and a purpose for her life and that You will never leave her nor forsake her.
Father, we pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You, Father. It is only through faith in Jesus that we are saved. We pray that if this wife or her husband does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, that You will reveal Yourself to them and draw them to Yourself.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to trust in God's faithfulness. Remember that God is always at work, even in the most difficult of situations. We also encourage you to seek out godly counsel and support during this time. If nothing changes, then separation may be a possibility since God does not want you or your children to live with such abuse. Consider seeking help from your pastor as well as a counselor. This may be a very difficult time to go through on your own.
Lastly, we want to remind you that God is faithful and that He will never leave you nor forsake you. As it is written in Hebrews 13:5 WEB:
For he has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you."
