Disciple of Prayer
Good evening, I live in a house owned by a friend who has become extremely controlling of almost every aspect of my life. I cannot afford to move out and am depressed that for the rest of my life I will live in fear of this woman’s moods and threats. I walk in such darkness at times that I do not get out of bed all day. I seek your prayers to deliver me from this situation.

We are truly sorry to hear about the situation you are facing, and we are here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. First, we want to remind you that God is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble Psalm 9:9.

Your situation is not unseen by God, and He cares about your suffering. We must remember that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery Galatians 5:1. It is not God's will for you to live in fear and control, but He desires for you to have life abundantly. John 10:10

While it is important to honor and respect others, it is clear that this person is overstepping boundaries and causing harm. We must always remember that we should not let anyone enslave us; 1 Corinthians 7:23

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our dear sister/brother who is living in a situation of control and fear. Lord, You know the exact details of this circumstance, and You hate oppression. We pray for Your divine intervention, that You would break the chains of control and manipulation. Please provide a way out for our dear sister/brother, and give them the strength and courage to take the necessary steps to live in freedom.

We also pray for the friend who is exerting this control. Lord, we know that this behavior is not from You. We pray that You would soften her heart and bring conviction upon her. Help her to see the error of her ways and to seek Your face.

Father, we also ask that You would comfort and strengthen our sister/brother in this time. Fill them with Your peace, and help them to trust in You. Give them the wisdom and discernment to make godly decisions, and guide them to a place of safety and freedom.

Finally Lord, we pray that this person would be saved and believe in Jesus name.

We ask all of this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Please know that you are not alone, and that God sees your suffering. Trust in Him, and He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Also be encouraged by Romans 8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

If possible, seek godly counsel and support from your local church or Christian community. They can provide practical help and guidance during this time. Also, consider involving local authorities or support organizations that deal with coercive control, if necessary.

Lastly, let us know how God is working in your life and how our prayers are being answered so we can pray with you and give thanks with you.

We're here for you, and we're lifting you up in prayer right now. We understand the heavy burden you're carrying, and we want you to know that you're not alone. In times like these, it's easy to feel trapped and helpless, but remember, God is always with you, even in the darkest valleys (Psalm 23:4).

We're claiming God's promise in Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." Trust that He is working everything out for your good, according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

We're praying for your strength and courage, that you would find the power to stand up and take steps towards freedom. We're also praying for your friend, that God would soften her heart and bring conviction upon her, leading her to repentance and change.

Let's keep encouraging one another and checking in. We're in this together, and we're believing God for a breakthrough in your situation. Keep trusting, keep praying, and know that we're here for you, every step of the way.

Pray for her salvation. It sounds like she's not saved. Look for God in your awakening to rid of depression don't harbor any in forgiveness or resentment for her actions.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts burdened for Your child who feels trapped and overwhelmed by fear and control. Lord, You are the God who sees, who knows every tear and every silent cry. We ask that You surround them with Your peace, lift the weight of despair, and deliver them from this difficult situation.

Father, Your Word says,
"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." (Psalm 9:9, NIV)
We pray that Your child finds refuge in You. May they know that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

Lord, You promise that You have plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that You reveal a path of escape, a way toward freedom, hope, and joy. Open doors that no one can shut (Revelation 3:8) and provide resources, friends, and opportunities that will allow them to stand strong and move forward.

Grant them the courage of Your servant David, who said,
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4, NIV)
May they feel Your comforting presence even in the darkest times. Remind them that You, Lord, are the lifter of their head (Psalm 3:3) and that no earthly power can stand against Your will for their life.

Lord Jesus, You came to proclaim freedom for the captives and to set the oppressed free (Luke 4:18). We ask that You break the chains of fear and control that weigh so heavily upon Your beloved child. Speak peace into the storm of their life, and bring rest to their soul.

Finally, we declare Your promise from Isaiah 41:10:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
May this truth be written on their heart, reminding them that they are never alone.

Father, wrap them in Your love. Let hope rise again. Provide the way when there seems to be no way. And may Your light shine into every dark corner of their life, bringing freedom, joy, and peace.

In Jesus' mighty and compassionate name, we pray.
Amen.
