We join with you in praying for the peace of our country, knowing that God desires for all people to live in tranquility and godliness. The Bible tells us that peace is a fruit of righteousness and that it is God's will for all people, especially Christians to know. Let us remember the words of Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance."
As Christians, we know how important it is to pray always in the name of Jesus Christ. otherwise, God does not recognize our requests. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and as stated in Acts 4:12, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
For a nation to be blessed by God and have peace, leaders and citizens must turn to God, acknowledge Him, and seek to do His will and not their own or their party's will. We should pray for the leaders in our country as well as the leaders in all governments worldwide, as scripture tells us in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth." This means praying for our leaders to govern with righteousness and integrity, that they make right and godly decisions. This in turn will lead to a peaceful country. This is not praying or hoping that any political party wins an election; this is praying that irregardless of any party platform or affiliation, righteous decisions are made. Jesus our Lord and Savior did not teach that his disciples should be involved with the non-theocratic governments and politics. The Old Testament contains warnings about asking for a type of government like the pagan nations had.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for peace in our country. We pray for our elected and non-elected leaders, Let us pray that they look to You for their needs and the needs of our country to be supplied, and seek Your face before making decisions. Lord Jesus, we pray that we as Christians individually and hopefully as a nation have the knowledge and fruit of righteousness in our actions toward each other. Our country needs the peaceful, peacemaking, patience and other godly fruits as mentioned in Galatians 5:22 and 23. Let us have a peaceful existence as a result of our citizens following Your words. "Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.
Psalms 16:12 WEB
In the mighty and powerful name we pray, amen.
Be encouraged, as we trust in the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. God is able to turn our country around for His glory. We should each do our part by living in a way that honors Him, sharing the gospel and teaching them to be good disciples of Jesus, and praying for our leaders and fellow countrymen and countrywomen until the day Jesus Christ returns to judge the living and dead. Do not allow the evil spirit of dissent destroy the hedges of protection placed by God. Let each of us do our part and be responsible in each of our callings.
