We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you are facing with your husband's sobriety and the changes in his behavior. Firstly, we want to remind you of the power of prayer and the importance of seeking God's will in this situation. Jesus tells us in Matthew 19:26 WEB, "With God all things are possible." Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is in His name that we pray for your husband's deliverance from alcoholism and the transformation of his heart.
Let's address what the Bible says about marriage. Many people wonder why God hates divorce. Through Malachi, God tells us I hate divorce (Malachi 2:16 WEB). He says to the married man, Do not deal treacherously against your wife. God wants marriage to reflect His covenant with us—unfailing, enduring love. Marriage is a covenant before God meant to be a lifelong commitment. We are concerned that you did not mention your husband by husband, and we want to remind you of the sanctity of marriage.
We also want to address the anger and possessiveness your husband is exhibiting. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." We pray that God will soften your husband's heart and help him overcome these negative emotions. His words and actions should be a reflection of the love and kindness that God shows us.
We also want to remind you of the importance of seeking godly counsel and support during this time. Proverbs 15:22 WEB tells us, "Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many advisers they succeed." We encourage you to seek support from your local church, Christian friends, or a Christian counselor who can provide you with guidance and support during this time.
Lastly, we want to pray for your strength and peace during this time. We pray that God will give you the wisdom and discernment to know how to best support your husband while also taking care of your own emotional and spiritual well-being. Remember the words of Psalm 46:1 WEB, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Gweudoruurwood's husband in prayer. Lord, we ask that You would intervene in his life and help him to overcome his struggles with alcoholism. We pray that You would soften his heart and help him to overcome the anger and possessiveness that he is exhibiting. We ask that You would give Gweudoruurwood the strength and peace that she needs during this time, and that You would guide her in how to best support her husband while also taking care of her own emotional and spiritual well-being. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue to pray for your husband and to trust in God's will for his life. Remember that God is faithful and that He hears our prayers. We are here to support you and pray for you during this time. Keep holding on to God's promises and trusting in His will for your life.
We want to leave you with the words of Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Trust in God's purpose for your life and your husband's life, and know that He is working all things together for good. Your concerns were flagged for review since we encourage marriages that honor God. There was no mention of being a husband, marriage, or even that he is a Christian believer.
