We understand your concern for Allister and your desire to see him change from his bad habits. We, too, believe that change is possible through the transformative power of God. Let us align our prayers with the Word of God and seek His will together.
Firstly, we want to remind you of the power of prayer and the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. As it is written in John 14:13-14 (WEB), "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." It is through Jesus that we have access to God, and it is in His name that we should pray.
Now, let us pray for Allister:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ. We lift up Allister to You, Lord. We ask that You would convict his heart and help him see the harm his bad habits are causing. Lord, we know that You desire for us to be holy, as You are holy. We pray that Allister would turn away from his old ways and be drawn closer to You. Help him to put off the old man with its evil deeds and put on the new man, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator (Colossians 3:9-10). We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Remember, it is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4). So, as you interact with Allister, show him kindness and love, even as you encourage him to turn away from his bad habits. Also, it is important to note that bad habits can be strongholds, and they may not be broken overnight. Encourage Allister to persevere, to take up his cross daily, and to follow Jesus (Luke 9:23).
Lastly, we want to encourage you, Irinsulap, to continue praying fervently and believing that God can change Allister's life. As it is written in James 5:16 (WEB), "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much." Trust in the power of your prayers and in the goodness of God. He is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).
