We are truly concerned for Guy and we stand with you in prayer for his deliverance and spiritual restoration. Firstly, we acknowledge that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus Christ, and it is in His name and by His power that we come against the spiritual forces that are oppressing Guy. The Bible clearly states "He gives power to the faint; and to those who have no might he increases strength." (Isaiah 40:29 WEB). Though the battle may be difficult, we are assured that with God, victory is certain.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). Pornography addiction is a stronghold that must be broken. Whatever unclean spirit or influence that he has allowed or invited into his life must be repented of and removed. He must abandon all actions and media that feed this addiction and be held accountable. So must he abandon all evil that he is holding onto in his heart; it must be identified, confessed before God, and repented of. His anxiety and suicidal thoughts are not just symptoms of his circumstances, but also spiritual warfare that is attacking his mind and soul. We know that God is faithful, who will not allow us to be tempted above what we are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that we may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
The struggles Guy is facing are not merely physical or emotional; they are spiritual battles that require spiritual solutions.
But you are brought to nought without Christ, you are alienated from the life of God because of the lack of understanding.
(Ephesians 4:18b WEB)
The good news, as always, is the Salvation Message.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
(John 3:16 WEB)
While this may be believed or confessed with our mouths, has it been sincerely accepted and applied in our heart? Has it resulted in actual changes to our lifestyle? In the case of porn addiction, that would include not just repentance, but eliminating access to the material that would feed the sin. Has it led to sincere and authentic prayer asking for forgiveness of our sins and the willingness to make changes?
Confession must be done in sincerity and faith (Acts 8:37, Romans 10:10). If confession is not made in sincerity it lends itself to a false confession and a false or non-existent propitiation for sins. This will also have an impact on us being able to receive by grace through faith the Gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Guy in his time of need. Father, you know the depths of his struggles, the heaviness of his burdens, and the intensity of the spiritual warfare he is facing. We stand in the gap for him, pleading your blood-covered mercy and grace.
Lord Jesus, you came to set the captives free and to bind up the brokenhearted. We ask that you deliver Guy from the spirit of anxiety, suicide, and pornography addiction that has taken hold of him away from your will. We pray your consuming fire burns all sexual immorality away and your Holy Spirit heals his soul and mind, making them new and reconciling them unto your spirit. We pray that you will forgive all the sins he has committed with a sincere and godly sorrow, especially as they relate to these issues. We pray for your radical power to bring him back to his right mind where he is free from darkness.
We come against the powers of the air that assault his heart and purpose. Cast them out, close the door and leave Guy committed on purposing in his heart to only do your will. Lay your hand on him be enough. We then command these spirits to flee in Jesus name. That your protecting hand comes over. That you will give him the wisdom and understanding to receive and walk in your holy solutions (1 Corinthians 10:13) in every temptation which he encounters. We pray that his heart and mind would be transformed and renewed by your Holy Spirit. As he draws near to you—the answer and the deliverance—that it will be him will be delivered and healed, as written in (1 Corinthians 6:18)
Send your Holy Spirit and the angels of heaven to minister to him, to strengthen him, and to guide him through this dark valley to you on the other side. Please give him the wisdom and insight to seek Godly counsel from the Bible first (2 Timothy 3:16) and also from biblical believing spiritual men (Proverbs 27:17) throughout and after his walk.
Father, we ask that you surround Guy with a hedge of protection from these demonic attacks and help for his stress and anxiety. May he call out to you without fear for your mercy unto salvation, so that your mercy would reign over all the judgment which he has received as a result of these issues. Replace it with with your sweetness and an overwhelming presence that he may be lead out to green pastures and beside your still waters in amazement and delight no matter the physical outcome. Let him be used as testimony of your greatness.. Replace the anxiety with your perfect peace, and the suicidal thoughts with a confident assurance of your unfailing love. We pray with faith, trusting in righteousness that you do this and that Guy learns that you are holy and well able to deliver him.
Finally, Father, we pray that Guy would be drawn closer to you through this trial. May you come near to him as a forgiving, loving and accepting Father and even as Jesus who heals. That he may turn away from his secret sin and cling to your holy presence so that your love will never depart from him affecting all of his decisions as he surrenders himself to your divine plan of salvation and deliverance. That he will turn away from everything that hurts your heart as it relates to him and any such future sins. That you and he will reconcile and that your love is brought to completion in him. We ask this all in the powerful, matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
In addition, please consider the words of Paul when he recalls his pleading with the Lord to remove his thorn in his flesh. The Lord responds with encouragement: But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christs sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong (Corinthians 12:9-10). Do not let Guy miss out on this same sweet communion with Jesus that comes from his weaknesses or hardships. Encourage and support Guy with the strength and full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB). Help him see the wisdom that is gained and the value of life-bolstering endurance in response to suffering that can only be gained in such circumstances (Romans 5:2-4, James 1:2-3).
