We understand your desire for healing and reconnection in your relationship, but we must first align our hearts with God's will and His principles for relationships. The Bible teaches us that forgiveness and compassion are indeed essential, as we are told in Ephesians 4:32, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
However, we must also remember that God's plan for relationships is for a man and a woman to be joined in holy matrimony, as it is written in Matthew 19:4-6, "The Creator made them male and female, and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.' So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
We must also address that the term "ex" indicates a past relationship, and it is crucial to seek God's will for any future or restored relationship. If there has been immorality in the past, remember that God offers forgiveness and restoration, but He also calls us to repentance and a changed life. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
Let us pray together for God's will in this situation:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your guidance and wisdom in this relationship. We pray that Your will be done, and that You soften hearts and bring healing where it is needed. Help both individuals to seek You first, and to grow in Your likeness. If it is Your will, bring restoration and reconnection, built on a strong foundation of faith, love, and respect. In all things, guide them with Your patience and clarity. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we notice that your prayer does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We encourage you to pray in the name of Jesus, as it is the only name by which we can be saved.
