The high unemployment rates in Singapore was due to companies discrimination against locals. Imagine if a locals job seeker sent 1000 to 2000 resumes to different job in different companies but got rejected because of companies discrimation. Or when you are invite to an interview face to face once you enter when ypur enter the office or the staff areforeigners with just one local who is the receptionist. And after the government had mismanaged the situation open another department TAfap to control the situation but it had resulted in Singaporeans doing platforms jobs, jobs below their qualification or wait and apply up to 6 month then the authorities will help to get a contract job after contract end the whole process repeats, whilst foreigners are often high paying job in office doing clearical work which they are not qualified with their fake creadentials just to save money and produce inferior goods, then afterwhich Singaporeans they employed helped to clear the mess. And ingapore companies often abuse locals by overworking 8.30am to 3am the staff and cause them to be hospitalized and the company could use this as an excuse to fail their probation. There is preverse and favoritism towards foreigners which they can come and work at 10am and leave at 3pm.
