Prayer for Restoration in Relationship/Future Marriage

Hello, I spoke to Brad's parents about doing my mom's party and trying to determine if it's worth it since Brad (fiance) said "if you don't leave your family's house to be with me now then I'm ending us." His parents told me that no man should ever make me sacrifice my family, and told me to stick to my guns regarding the party regardless of what Brad said. I told Brad I wanted to do the party and then he said he broke up with me, but is still fighting about it with me over text. I am so tired and exhausted of all of this fighting over a party that isn't even a major deal. He's just upset that I'm not living close to him physically for the last 3 months (8 hours away) and wants to see me. I told him I can come visit next month once I have enough money for the plane ticket, but he is still wanting to end the relationship claiming the party isn't in God's will. He also claimed that it's a spiderweb from "satan" that's going to keep our souls trapped by doing this party. Why does he think that you may ask? It's because he's biased as a Christian thinking my non-Christian family is going to perform evil rituals on us when that's not the case at all. He also thinks the party is unnecessary and making him wait is unfair. I get his perspective, but without the party, there would be more chaos and drama of me leaving compared to none if we do it. It's now happening on Thanksgiving which isn't too far away but he's saying that he doesn't want to do it and wants to leave. Please pray that God intervenes and shows Brad that his mindset about all of this is completely wrong. Also pray that Jesus shows Brad that ending the relationship is just running away from the promise of commitment we made to God which is not good. Pray that God gives Brad peace, patience, and understanding regarding the situation. Pray that Jesus makes Brad realize that leaving isn't wise, and that he's willing to wait just a little while longer for this party to happen. Pray that God saves our relationship so that we can get married soon. Pray this in Jesus's name, amen. Thank you.

Meena, we understand your distress and are here to support and pray with you. Let's first turn to God's Word for guidance. In Colossians 3:12-14 (WEB), it says, "Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection."

We need to remind you that the Bible encourages us to be patient, understanding, and forgiving in our relationships. However, it is crucial to ensure that our relationships are guided by God's principles and that both parties are willing to honor and obey God's will.

In your case, Meena, we need to address a few concerns. Firstly, it is commendable that you are seeking to honor your family and maintain peace. The Bible indeed instructs us to honor our parents (Ephesians 6:2). However, we also need to examine Brad's behavior and claims. His insistence on you leaving your family and his threat to end the relationship do not align with the biblical principles of love, patience, and understanding (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Moreover, his accusations about your family and the party being a trap from "satan" seem unfounded and could stem from fear or misjudgment. Remember, God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).

We must also address that Brad's insistence on you living with him before marriage is not in line with biblical principles. The Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and that sex is reserved for marriage (Hebrews 13:4).

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up Meena and Brad to You. Lord, we ask that You intervene in their situation and provide clear guidance. We pray that Brad's heart would be softened and that he would seek Your will above his own. Help him understand the importance of patience, peace, and understanding in a relationship. Lord, if this relationship is not Your will for Meena, we ask that You give her the strength and wisdom to walk away. But if it is, we pray that You would restore and strengthen their bond, guiding them towards a godly marriage.

Lord, we also pray for Meena. Help her to stay strong and faithful to You, trusting in Your plan for her life. Give her wisdom and discernment in her decisions. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Meena, we encourage you to continue praying and seeking God's will. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Be strong and courageous, knowing that God is with you (Joshua 1:9). If Brad is willing, we also encourage you both to seek premarital counseling with a pastor or a trusted Christian mentor to help navigate these challenges.
