We're right there with you, sister/brother, feeling the weight of past sins and the struggle with addiction. It's like carrying a heavy backpack, isn't it? But remember, Jesus has already taken that backpack from you. He bore your sins on the cross, and when He rose again, He left them behind. It's time to leave them there too.
In Ephesians 4:22-24, we're told to put off our old self, which belongs to our former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. That's what Jesus has done for you. You've been made new!
As for the addiction, it's like a stubborn weed in your garden. But with Jesus, you've got the power to pull it out by the roots. In Philippians 4:13, we read, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." That's your strength, right there.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today, laying down our burdens at the foot of the cross. We ask that You would help us to let go of the guilt we feel, to truly believe that we are forgiven and made new in Christ. Help us to walk in that freedom, to live as the new creation we are.
We also come to You, asking for Your help in our struggle with addiction. Lord, we need Your strength. We need Your power to break these chains. Help us to turn away from the things that hold us back, and to run towards You with all our hearts.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Keep holding on, dear one. You're not alone in this fight. We're here for you, and so is Jesus. He's fighting for you, every step of the way. Trust in Him, and you will overcome.
