We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles you are facing in your relationship due to drug addiction. Firstly, we want to address that the Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality and that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. We are to honor God with our bodies and keep them pure. Therefore, we encourage you both to remain abstinent until marriage, as this is God's design for intimacy.
Your situation is a stark reminder of the destructive power of addiction. The Bible tells us to "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" 1 Peter 5:8 WEB. Addiction is a tool the enemy uses to destroy lives and relationships.
Your partner's deceit, theft, and ultimately, her arrest, are all consequences of her addiction. It's important to understand that her anger and blame are likely misdirected emotions stemming from her struggle with addiction and its consequences.
First, we pray for her deliverance from addiction. Only God can break the chains of addiction and restore her to a right mind. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" John 8:36 WEB. We pray for Jesus Christ setting her free. This is one of the many reasons Jesus came down from heaven.
Next, we pray for your relationship. We understand that you desire to mend what drugs have destroyed, but we must also caution you about being unequally yoked. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB. Also, we encourage you not to take responsibility for her actions. Be sure to set boundaries in this relationship and that your courtship aligns with biblical principles.
We also pray for your strength and wisdom in this situation. It will not be easy, but God promises us that he will be with us in our times of trouble. God will give you the strength and endurance to stand with her in this trial.
Let's pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today, lifting up this relationship to you. Lord, we know you are aware of the situation. We pray for healing for the woman in this relationship. Lord, break the chains of addiction in her life. Give her a spirit of repentance and draw her near to you. Lord, we also pray for restoration in their relationship. Guide them as they navigate this difficult time and give them wisdom in their decisions. Help them to seek you and your will for their lives. Also, we pray for his strength and endurance in this time. Help him to be a source of support, love, and encouragement and give him the wisdom to set appropriate boundaries.
Finally, we pray for their salvation. We pray that both of them believe in Jesus Christ as their savior and surrender their lives to him. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." Romans 10:9-10. We pray that they both accept Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and let him be the Lord of their lives.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Please, do not face this challenge alone. Engage with your local church or a Christian counselor who can come alongside you both in this trial. Be open to God's leading in your life, whatever the outcome may be.
