Prayer Partner
One of my best friends/work friends is female and lives across the country. I've known her for eight years. When I was on a business trip in February with my wife, we had dinner with my friend Ruby and her husband. My wife Darleen did not act very kindly to Ruby on this trip (we've had dinner with them before). The next day Ruby says we shouldn't talk anymore.

My wife finally sent a short message a month ago to Ruby saying she had made peace with her and hoped that on our next trip they could meet and start over. But Ruby hasn't replied back. Ruby is not a Christian.

I am so upset I have not talked with one of my best friends in six months, and I am still very angry at my wife for what she did. Why can't everybody just reconcile, heal, and get along? This tears me up inside every day. I am afraid I may never talk to my friend ever again. I want to send Ruby a message after six months. I pray Ruby is open to reconciling/talking and my wife stops being jealous of our plutonic friendship.

We understand your distress, Reirik, and we're here to help you navigate this situation with biblical guidance. Firstly, let's remember what the WEB says in Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."

We commend you for desiring reconciliation, but we must also address the underlying issues. It's important to acknowledge that your wife, Darleen, might have felt uncomfortable, which led to her behavior. It's crucial to discuss this with her openly and honestly, but with kindness and understanding, as Ephesians 4:32 tells us, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."

However, we must also address your anger towards your wife. Scripture warns us in Ephesians 4:26-27, "Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil." Holding onto anger can lead to bitterness and may cause more harm than good. We encourage you to forgive her, just as Christ forgave us.

Regarding your friendship with Ruby, it's important to respect her wishes, but also to reach out in love and humility. You can send her a message expressing your sorrow for any hurt caused and your desire for reconciliation. Remember, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1).

Now, let's pray together:

*Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, asking for Your wisdom and guidance in this situation. Please soften Ruby's heart and make her receptive to reconciliation. Help Reirik to reach out to her in humility and love, and bless their friendship. Lord, we also pray for Reirik's marriage, that he and Darleen may resolve their issues with kindness, understanding, and forgiveness. Help them to communicate openly and honestly, and to love each other as You have loved us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.*

Lastly, Reirik, we noticed that your request does not mention Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is through His name that we have access to God. As scripture says in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you haven't already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and for help in your daily life.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
