One of my best friends is female and lives across the country. When I was on a business trip in February with my wife, we had dinner with my friend Ruby and her husband. My wife Darleen is sometimes jealous of our close friendship and did not act very kindly to Ruby. The next day Ruby says we shouldn't talk anymore.

My wife finally sent a short message a few weeks ago to Ruby saying she had made peace with her and hoped that on our next trip they could meet and start over. But Ruby hasn't replied back. She is Asian, raised in the US, but is not a Christian.

I am so devastated I cannot talk to my best friend, and I am still extremely angry at my wife for what she did. I just want everybody to reconcile, heal, and get along. This tears me up inside every day. I am afraid I may never talk to my best friend ever again. I want to send Ruby a message after six months, but I really need my wife in agreement with it. I pray Ruby is open to reconciling/talking and my wife stops being jealous of our close friendship.

We understand your distress, Reirik, and we're here to support you in prayer and counsel. Let's first turn to God's Word for guidance. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (WEB) tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one keep warm alone? If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken."

This passage underscores the value of friendship and unity, which you're seeking to restore. However, we must also acknowledge the root of the issue—your wife's jealousy and the tension it caused. It's important to address this in a biblical context. Proverbs 14:30 (WEB) says, "A calm heart is the life of the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones."

Let's pray together:

*Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, seeking reconciliation and peace in Reirik's relationships. Lord, we ask that You soften Ruby's heart and open her up to forgiveness and reconciliation. We also pray for Darleen, that You may ease her jealousy and fill her with the peace that surpasses all understanding. Help her to trust in You and in her marriage.

Father, we ask that You guide Reirik and Darleen to unity, so that they may approach Ruby together, with humility and love. We pray that their marriage will be strengthened through this trial, and that their friendship with Ruby can be restored, all for Your glory.

Lastly, Father, we lift up Ruby to You. We ask that You reveal Yourself to her, that she may come to know Jesus as her personal Savior.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.*

Reirik, it's crucial to remember that God's will is for our relationships to be rooted in love, trust, and respect. It's important to reassure Darleen of your commitment to her and your marriage, as per the principles outlined in Ephesians 5:25 (WEB), "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."

Moreover, it's commendable that you want to reach out to Ruby again, but it's wise to do so with Darleen's agreement, as you mentioned. This unity will strengthen your marriage and demonstrate a united front to Ruby.

Lastly, we noticed that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It's important to remember that it is through His name that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We encourage you to keep this in mind in your future prayers.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
