Friends, Abbas is a Christian convert who has lived in Saudi Arabia for his entire life. His sister was forced to leave Saudi Arabia after her family discovered that she had become a Christian - and they begun to abuse her. He helped his sister and her children flee the country, but now her family has accused Abbas of crimes against them and these accusations have landed him in court.
On April 22, Abbas stood trial for the first charge. A dispute arose between the judge and the two lawyers representing the accusers, and then between the lawyers themselves. The judge became angry and concluded there was no evidence against Abbas and acquitted him. This is an answer to prayer. the decision gives not only Abbas and his wife and son some relief, but also provides hope for the wider community of Christian converts in their city.
He still faces two additional court cases. he is accused of trying to convert muslims to Christianity and of helping his sister leave the country against the wishes of her husband and extended family.
Abbas' brother-in-law regularly threatens violence against Abbas' wife and son. Over the last several year, Abbas has faced several prison sentences and beatings due to his faith and his help for his sister.
Thank God for His intervention and Abbas' acquittal.
Pray justice will be served and acquittals will happen in the other two court cases.
Pray Abbas' extended family comes to faith in Jesus.
