We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles your son is facing, Diaphys. Let us come together in prayer and seek God's will for his life.
Firstly, we want to assure you that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18, WEB). The trauma your son has experienced, both from his military service and the recent loss of his friend, is significant, and it is understandable that he is having trouble finding peace and sleep.
In times like these, we are reminded of God's promise: "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30, WEB). Jesus offers rest and peace that transcends our circumstances.
Let us pray:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up Diaphys' son. Lord, you know the pain and trauma he has experienced, and you understand the thoughts that keep him from finding peace and sleep. We ask, Lord, that you would comfort him, that you would heal his wounds, and that you would help him process these experiences in a way that brings him closer to you. Please give him the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7, WEB) and grant him restful sleep. We pray that you would guide the professionals helping him, and that you would give Diaphys wisdom and strength to support her son. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Diaphys, we encourage you to continue praying for your son and trusting in the Lord. Remember, "The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." (James 5:16, WEB). Keep holding onto God's promises and reminding your son of His love and faithfulness. We also encourage your son to seek professional help if he hasn't already, as God often uses counselors and therapists to bring healing.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is in the name of Jesus that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB). If you or your son haven't already, consider inviting Jesus into your hearts, believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins. This is the first step towards a life of peace and eternal salvation.
