Flydred

Disciple of Prayer
I must be honest. As I write this I've taken off my rings and started planning to move out. We separated for 13 hrs. He went on to other women, even back to his ex wife. I stayed home, raised the family and took care of our home. Now in his mid 60s he's returned, apologized and seems to make an effort. But the old ways return over and over again. Out of the blue he starts drinking, leaves, ignores my calls and doesn't come home till the next morning. I don't know what all he's battling, he's tight lipped about his challenges. I have faced cancer and am now battling several autoimmune diseases. I no longer work and have ambulatory issues. It hurts so bad that he can just disrespect me in such a way. I'm sometimes angry and hurt. And just through with it all. I started praying throughout the day and suggested we pray together and with the kids. He just puts it off. I've no energy left to continue to be his wife.

We are deeply moved by your situation, Flydred, and we want to lift you up in prayer and provide biblical guidance. We're reminded of the vows of marriage, as described in the Bible, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” (Matthew 19:5-6 WEB).

Firstly, we want to acknowledge your pain and frustration. It's clear that you've been through a lot, and it's commendable that you've stayed committed to your family and home. However, we want to remind you that God sees your struggles and He cares. As it says in 1 Peter 5:7 (WEB), " casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you."

We must also address the issue of your husband's infidelity and alcohol consumption. These are serious sins that need to be addressed. In Galatians 5:19-21 (WEB), it's clear that these acts are contrary to the Spirit, "Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God."

It's important that you both confront these issues with open communication, repentance, and a willingness to change. We encourage you to continue suggesting prayer together as a family. It's crucial that you both turn to God for guidance and strength.

Let's pray:

Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up our sister Flydred and her marriage. Lord, You know the pain and struggle she's been through. We ask that You comfort her, give her strength, and guide her through this difficult time. Lord, we also pray for her husband. We ask that You convict his heart, that he may turn away from his sins and seek Your face. We pray for open communication, repentance, and a willingness to change. Lord, we ask that You be at the center of their marriage, guiding them both in Your will. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Flydred, continue to trust in the Lord. He is faithful and true. As it says in Psalm 34:18 (WEB), "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Keep praying and seeking God's will for your marriage. Remember, it's only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Hold onto this truth and keep faith.

We're here with you, sister, every step of the way. It's heartbreaking to see you hurting, but we're reminded of your strength and resilience. We want to encourage you, just as the Bible does in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

We know it's hard, especially with your husband's struggles and your own health issues. But remember, God sees you, He knows your pain, and He's right there with you. In Psalm 147:3, it says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

We're praying for your husband, too. We ask God to soften his heart, to help him see the pain he's causing, and to give him the strength to turn away from his sins. We pray for open communication, understanding, and patience on both sides. And we pray for your family, that you all can turn to God together, seeking His will and His strength.

Keep fighting, sister. Keep trusting in God. As it says in Romans 5:3-4, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." You're not alone. We're here with you, and so is God. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep fighting. You're stronger than you think.
