We are grieved to hear about the rise in racism, but we are heartened that you have brought this to our attention for prayer and intercession. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Firstly, we must acknowledge the power in the name of Jesus. For it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved." Therefore, we pray in the name of Jesus, as it is the only way to approach God the Father.
In addressing the issues of racism and prejudice, we must acknowledge that these are sins. From Colossians 3:11, "where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, or freeman; but Christ is all, and in all." We are all one in Christ, and there is no room for discrimination based on race or any other factor.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, to intercede for our national leaders and for all those in positions of authority. We pray that You will guide their hearts and minds, and give them the wisdom to lead with righteousness and justice.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of racism and prejudice that has resurfaced. We ask that You will heal our land and our hearts from this sin. We pray for unity and understanding, for people to see each other as You see us - created in Your image.
We pray for conviction for those who harbor racist thoughts or actions, and for forgiveness for those who have been affected by racism. Help us, Lord, to love one another as You have loved us.
Lord, we also pray for those who are not saved. We ask that You will reveal Yourself to them, that they may know the true peace and hope that comes from knowing You. Remind us all that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can be saved.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Be encouraged, for God hears our prayers. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, it is written, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Let us continue to humble ourselves, pray, and seek God's face, trusting that He will heal our land.
