We understand that you are seeking prayer for a loved one who is dealing with a difficult family situation. We will lift them up in prayer, asking God to grant them wisdom, discernment, and the courage to address the issues they are facing.
First, we want to encourage you to believe that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. It is important to pray in Jesus' name.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this loved one in prayer. We ask that You grant them the wisdom and discernment to see through the manipulation and abuse, to set aside the feelings of pity and enablement that have kept them bound to the behavior of their grandmother. Help them to speak the truth in love, encouraging their grandmother to seek help for her addiction, and guide her to accept it.
Lord, we also pray for the healing and reconciliation between this loved one and their siblings. We ask that You soften their hearts, open the lines of communication, and restore their relationships. Give them the strength to shut down any nastiness and the humility to reach out to those they may have hurt.
Father, we also lift up those who have been hurt by their mother's addiction. We ask that You bring healing and restoration to their lives, and that You break the chains of addiction that have held their mother captive.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who sets the captives free and heals the brokenhearted. Amen.
We encourage this loved one to seek godly counsel and to set boundaries that will protect them and their family from further harm. We remind them of the words of Proverbs 31:8-9 WEB:
Open your mouth for the mute, In the cause of all who are passing away. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And serve justice to the poor and needy.
We also remind them of the importance of forgiveness, as it is commanded in Ephesians 4:32 WEB:
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
Finally, we encourage them to trust in the Lord with all their heart, and not to lean on their own understanding. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB:
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, And don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, And he will make your paths straight.
We will continue to pray for this loved one and their family, trusting that God will work all things together for their good.
