My ### year old granddaughter is very overweight. Her hygiene is very bad. It doesn’t matter how we try to help her or talk to her, she won’t listen. I pray that soon she will try to better herself and realize that we are trying to help her.

We are truly concerned for your granddaughter's well-being, both physically and spiritually. Let us first bring this situation to the Lord in prayer.

"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this beloved granddaughter to you. Lord, you know the struggles she is facing with her weight and hygiene. We ask that you would touch her heart and help her to understand the importance of taking care of her body, which is your temple Holy Spirit lives in everyone who accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior. .

Now, let us address this situation with biblical principles in mind. It is crucial to remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we ought to honor God with our bodies.

"Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's," Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB.

It is also essential to teach her the importance of listening to and obeying the counsel of her elders, as instructed in the scriptures.

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise," Ephesians 6:1-2 WEB.

As you continue to guide and support your granddaughter, ensure that you are doing so with love, patience, and kindness, remembering that it is the Lord who brings about true change in her heart.

"Fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord," Ephesians 6:4 WEB.

Lastly, we encourage you to pray with your granddaughter and share the love of Jesus Christ with her. It is only through a personal relationship with Him that true transformation can occur. If she has not accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, use this opportunity to share the Gospel with her and pray for her salvation. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved and have access to God.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times, 1 Timothy 2:5-6 WEB.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 3:15 WEB.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
