Prayer for my ###

My mother lives with my husband and me as she’s recently become homeless. As she’s a professing Christian, we’ve opened our home. However, she makes us very uncomfortable as she’s combative and does not respect the rules of our home. She frequently uses the Word of God to pick fights and accuse others of witchcraft and spiritual warfare against her and her life if she doesn’t get things she wants. She has negative relationships with everyone and it’s causing her to have a hard time keeping work and she’s unable to consistently attend or be accepted at a church as she causes discord because they don’t allow her to be an “elder” or “acknowledge her pastoral calling.” She needs true mental and spiritual healing. Please pray that she truly experiences the grace, healing, love, and freedom given only through redemption in Christ. Pray for wisdom for my husband and me so that we make the wisest decision for our home and children while still being compassionate and showing the love of Christ. We are extremely uncomfortable around her and we are exhausted. I want to honor my mother but protect my children and home.

We understand your concern and commend you for desiring to honor your mother while also protecting your home and family. Let's pray together and seek God's will in this situation.

Firstly, let's remember what the Word of God says about honoring our parents: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you" (Exodus 20:12, WEB). However, it's also important to maintain a peaceful and safe environment in your home, as Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9, WEB).

It's clear that your mother's behavior is causing discord and discomfort, which is not in line with the fruit of the Spirit: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23, WEB). Moreover, her use of the Word of God to cause strife is not in accordance with its intended purpose: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16, WEB).

Let's pray:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your guidance and wisdom in this difficult situation. Lord, we ask that You would heal our mother spiritually and mentally. May she truly experience Your grace, healing, love, and freedom that comes only through redemption in Christ. Help her to understand and apply Your Word correctly, not using it to cause strife but to grow in Your likeness.

Father, grant us the wisdom to make the right decisions for our home and children, while still being compassionate and showing the love of Christ. We are uncomfortable and exhausted, Lord, so we ask for Your strength and peace to guide us. Help us to honor our mother while also protecting our family and home.

We ask these things in Jesus' name, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12, WEB). Amen."

We encourage you to continue praying and seeking God's will. It may also be beneficial to seek godly counsel from your pastor or other trusted Christian leaders. Remember, God is faithful and will provide a way out of this difficult situation (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Trust in Him and His promises.

God heal me, body, soul, and spirit. Cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, pray Your best for me, and all those I love and care about.
