We understand your concern and commend you for standing firm in your faith. As believers, we are called to avoid any form of idolatry, as it is clearly forbidden in Scripture we had better (discard them) and we might be better comparing circumstances in Acts 19.19 - Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their value, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver. Many that insist that belief is incompatible with the use of amulets, talismans, or other objects tied to spiritual practices outside of Christianity are correct because such practices are rooted in idolatry and can open the door to demonic influences which might be the cause of the disharmony.
First, remember the words of the Lord who says You shall have no other Desires before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God. We are explicitly commanded not to engage in such practices. 2 Corinthians 6.14-17 says "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? 15 What agreement has Christ with Beliar? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people." 17 Therefore
Come out from among them,
and be separate,' says the Lord.
'Touch no unclean thing.
I will receive you.
Furthermore, in 1 John 5.21 it says Little children, keep yourselves from idols. This verse highlights the importance of not only not having amulets but not even allowing our ourselves to become obsessed with them. (which is what idols are God/gods/who we serve) Children are apt to want to explore and often it requires the older sibling or the parent to guide them in the right way. But this is not to cause a mother to lose heart. In Luke 18.1-8 Jesus commends the widow who petitions on behalf of her son to the judge and by her continual beseeching of the judge she prevailed upon the judge who only cared about himself and did not fear God. How much more would a righteous judge who is God hear about us and our desire for our brother to live for Jesus.
We also read in James 5.16. "that you should confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." Together as a group let us stand firm for your brother just as the office of Aaron and Hur supported Moses, arms when he could no longer hold them up. The Lord Jesus tells us that where two or three (or four) agree together we can have faith in believing. We must hand this over to the Lord. 1 Peter 5.8 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
It is essential that everyone become a Christian, not an adherant of Christ and Buddha
Let's pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, pleading for Dexter2020's younger brother. Lord, you know the situation, and you see the discord this amulet has brought into their home. We pray that you would open his heart, give him a spirit of repentance, and help him to see the truth about idolatry if in fact it is this which is at fault. We ask it is that if this is not the correct identification that you would reveal it to us Lord so we can properly pray for him. Enable him to obey you and to discard the amulet along with any other items that are against your command. Help him submit to your will, Lord. Surround their home with your peace, and help them to stand firm in their faith if they are Christians. We pray for your favor on Dexter2020. Please, we pray blessings on Dexter2020. We ask that you would deliver him from any kind of spiritual attack of which this occult attack appears to possibly be. We pray peace, healing and blessings for their mother. We pray all this in Jesus' name, believing that through your Holy Spirit's power we too can accomplish the same for your salvation glory.
Lord, we humbly ask for your salvation grace in Jesus' name.
And finally, just as you commanded the Israelites to not even ask about the idols in Psalms 16.4. You have not granted your son to have any interest in any idols. We thank you that you have told us that we have no need to be worried about horoscopes, amulets, potions, incantations, or any other such thing. We trust you and your plan. W hold nothing back for we have given over and surrendered everything to live for you.
In Jesus' name we pray, trusting, believing, and knowing that you have heard our prayers. Amen.
It is important not only to pray for the brother, but also to correct him such as in Acts 20.21, "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ" that they would be Christians rather than adherents to more than one set of beliefs. I suggest that you show him the following verses and then share your own testimony of your life before you followed Jesus and the difference that following him has made since you were not a Christian for very long. particle
In Luke 24.47, Jesus says that "repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." Later in the same book was the last book, but we find in Acts 3.19 - Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. It is a wonderfully delicious feeling to have our sin forgiven, and we can freely give it to the next person we encounter when we trust that Jesus is enough. We can share the gospel with everyone that they can repent and their sins be forgiven. In Acts 3.16, it says that it is his name, through faith in his name, that this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this man his complete healing, as you can all flashy clothes to save. We have both needed to be changed in the past and had saving faith. This faith has changed us makes it possible to have changed. He must have the saving faith that is based upon believing that Jesus has saved him from sin and has washed others and his own sins away by his blood. His sins must be washed away by the blood of Jesus just as the blood of the two goats were wiped on the mercy seat for the whole nation of Israel. All of his sins as well as our sins are able to be washed away, forgotten, blotted out, washed as far away as the east is from the west because of the blood of Jesus.
In Acts 4.12, it is said that and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! As we begin to seek repentance from idolatry, we must keep steadfastly in mind that our faith must be in Jesus and Jesus alone. In John 14.6, it is said that Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him."
