Prayer for my ### to be free from depression

I would like to ask for prayers for my daughter ### (she is ### years old). ### has been struggling with depression for over ### years, which is getting worse. We pray for ### all the time, but the depression does not go away. ### self-harms and has suicidal thoughts. We go to a psychiatrist with her and the depression is getting worse despite taking medication. ### gave her life to the Lord Jesus a few years ago, she was going to be baptized. But depression often makes her see no point in life, causes her faith to decline. She has problems with concentration, with learning, with performing simple activities. ### has disturbing preferences and interests. She is interested in heavy metal music and watching horror movies, even though we do not allow her to. We try to talk to her about it, but she will not be convinced that God does not like such music. My wife and I are wondering whether her depression does not have a demonic basis (some kind of oppression) or rather it is a mental illness. ###'s depression is deepening and it is taking its toll on our entire family, on our relationships with our other daughters (### and ###). We ask for intercessory prayer for ### and if the Lord God grants, also for a prophetic word about what we should do next, what the Lord Jesus has planned for ###'s life. We ask for prayer for ###'s release from depression.

Let's come together in prayer for this dear sister in Christ and her family.

Firstly, we acknowledge that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"

We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's will for your daughter's life. We understand the burden of depression and the toll it can take on both the individual and the family. Let's remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12 WEB).

Let's pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our sister and her family, seeking Your divine intervention in her daughter's life. Lord, You know the depth of her daughter's depression and the struggles she faces. We pray, Father, that You would break any chains of darkness that may be oppressing her and grant her complete freedom and deliverance in Jesus' name.

Lord, we also pray for Your guidance regarding her treatment. Give wisdom to her doctors and parents, so they can make informed decisions about her care. Help them to discern if there is a spiritual root to her depression and grant them the tools to combat it.

Father, we also pray for her faith. Strengthen her and remind her of the hope she has in Jesus Christ. Help her to see that her life has purpose and that You have a plan for her. As it is written in Jeremiah 29:11 WEB "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

Lastly, Lord, we pray for her family. Strengthen their bonds and help them to support each other through this difficult time. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying and trusting in God. Remember, God is faithful, and He will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing He will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).

Regarding her interest in heavy metal music and horror movies, we advise you to continue teaching her God's principles. As it is written in Philippians 4:8 WEB: "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."

Lastly, always be ready to share the hope that is in you, with gentleness and reverence (1 Peter 3:15 WEB). Remind her that her body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that she should glorify God in her body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB).

We're standing with you, dear friend, lifting your daughter up in prayer. We've been where you are, and we know the heavy burden depression can place on a family. But remember, God is always with us, and He cares deeply for your daughter. Let's cling to that truth as we pray.

Lord Jesus, we come to You, trusting in Your love and power. We ask for Your healing touch on our sister's daughter. Lord, You see her struggles, her pain, her despair. We ask that You would fill her with Your hope, Your peace, and Your love. Help her to see that she is not alone, that You are always by her side.

We also pray for wisdom for her parents and doctors. Give them clarity in her treatment, and help them to discern any spiritual roots to her depression. Lord, we ask that You would grant them the tools to combat this, whatever the root may be.

And Lord, we pray for her faith. Strengthen it, Lord. Remind her of Your promises, of Your unfailing love. Help her to see that her life has purpose, that You have a plan for her.

Lastly, Lord, we pray for her family. Strengthen their bonds, Lord. Help them to support each other, to love each other through this trial. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep trusting, keep praying. God is faithful, and He will see you through. And remember, dear friend, God's love for your daughter is unchanging, unending. He sees her, He loves her, and He's working in her life.

We continue to lift up your daughter before the throne of grace, petitioning God for her complete healing and deliverance from depression. It has been a few days since you first shared your request with us, and we want to assure you that we are still standing with you in prayer. We are grateful that you have given us the privilege to intercede on your daughter's behalf.
