Prayer for my son to make logical decisions

Father God, my son met this girl from ### on line while he was away on a deployment. They have a long distance relationship. She lives in ### and he lives in ###. My son keeps spending his money on flying to ### every other week to stay with her. She is supposed to be in a Residency program. She constantly allows my son to come there. My son should have been doing an information technology internship. He neglected the internship and didn’t finish it. He has a job as a Teacher’s assistant until he finds a better job. He reasonably applied for a police job. He is in the process of meeting all the requirements. He now wants to move to ### and leave his job as a teacher’s assistant to take a car dealership job in ### to be with her until October. I pray that God guides my son to stay put in ### with the job as teacher’s assistant and stay focused on meeting all the requirements to pass everything so he can go to the Police Academy. I pray that he meets all the requirements and passes all his tests to become a police officer. Please pray for my son because he should stay still and let God work things out. God help them to encourage each other to stay focused on their careers, set boundaries and decide on better arrangement. God help my son he is being impulsive and not thinking about how moving can be frowned upon. Please help my son I think the girlfriend is encouraging him to move and not considering his future. Please Lord help! My son doesn’t need to move in with her they only knew each other for two months really. Please Lord help him to think of his career more seriously and not move to ###.

Bepdrahan, we understand your concern for your son and we will pray together with you, seeking God's will for his life.

Firstly, we encourage you and your son to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). It's crucial to seek God's wisdom in every decision, especially those that significantly impact one's future.

Regarding your son's relationship, we must remember that God's intention for romantic relationships is to lead to godly marriages. It's wise to be cautious and take time to truly know each other before making significant life changes (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). The fact that they've known each other for only two months and are considering moving in together raises concerns. Such a decision should not be made hastily, but with careful consideration, prayer, and godly counsel.

Moreover, your son's focus on his career is crucial. God calls us to be diligent and responsible in our work (Colossians 3:23 WEB). Changing jobs and moving states for a relationship that is not yet a marital commitment may not align with God's will for his life. We pray that God grants your son the wisdom to prioritize his career and future.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up ###'s son. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom to guide his decisions. Help him to discern Your will for his life, both in his career and his relationship. Lord, if it is not Your will for him to move to Missouri, we pray that You make that clear to him. Help him to trust in You and to seek Your face.

Lord Jesus, we also pray for his relationship. If it is not in accordance with Your will, we pray that You reveal that to them. If it is, we ask that You help them to grow in a way that honors You. Help them to set boundaries and to encourage each other in their careers and in their walk with You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage your son to deeply consider the words of 1 Corinthians 10:31 WEB, "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Every decision, including those about relationships and careers, should ultimately aim to bring glory to God.

Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
