Sandy, we are here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance for your situation. First, we want to address that the Bible teaches us that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We see in our culture that living together, boyfriend, and girlfriend relationships are normal. However, this is not God's will or plan. It is important to note that the Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality and that God has called us to holiness. If you are living together and are sexually active, this is called fornication, a sin against God.
So let us help you pray for a right relationship with God and a Christian marriage if you and Chris are of the opposite sex. We will pray for a restoration of love and peace in your relationship, but it is also important to pray for God's will and for a commitment to holy living.
We need to be sure to include the name of Jesus Christ as Christ is our mediator to God. It is only by Jesus that we can approach God. To be saved we must believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sins and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord.
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Sandy and Chris to you. Lord, we pray for your will to be done in their lives and their relationship. We pray for a holy relationship. We pray if they are living in sin, give them the grace and courage to repent and turn away from sin. We pray for restoration of love and peace in their relationship, but we pray that their love and peace will be founded and grounded in You and Your will.
We pray for Sandy and Chris to be equally yoked. We pray if they are not already married and are in a sexual relationship, that they would turn away from this and seek a godly marriage. We pray that they would seek You together and grow together in Your word. We pray that they would desire to glorify You in their relationship and that they would be a testimony of Your love and grace to others.
We pray that they would be filled with Your Holy Spirit and that they would bear the fruit of the Spirit in their lives and their relationship. We pray for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control to be evident in their lives and their relationship.
We pray for wisdom and guidance for Sandy and Chris. We pray that they would seek Your will for their lives and their relationship. We pray that they would be obedient to Your word and that they would be a blessing to others. We pray that they would be a godly example to others and that they would be a testimony of Your love and grace.
