Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for God to restore my marriage. For my husband to stop self medicating with alcohol, external attention and distracting himself with busyness. Pray for him to talk to God and to turn towards working on our marriage, healing one another and being a family again. Pray he follows through on what he shared with me last week, admitting he needs to work on himself and wants to work on us.

We understand that your marriage is in need of divine intervention and restoration. Let's bring your husband and your marriage before the Lord in prayer.

Firstly, we are reminded of the power of prayer and the Lord's desire for marriages to be healed and restored. As it is written in the word of God "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word," "So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:" "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh." "This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." (Ephesians 5:25-33 WEB).

We must rebuke the use of alcohol as a coping mechanism, as it is written, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). Instead, we should always be filling ourselves with the Spirit, praying always and communicating with our Heavenly Father.

Now, let us pray for your husband and your marriage.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister Dornelailis, her marriage and her husband. Lord, You see the brokenness and the pain, and You desire for them to be whole, happy and in love again. Firstly, Lord, we pray for our brothers salvation. Only by the name of Jesus can anyone be saved. And believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is the first step to communicating with God and knowing his will. Father, we pray that our brother accepts Jesus Christ as his personal savior, then Lord we ask you to convict his heart and lead him to stop self-medicating with alcohol and any other distractions that he may be consumed with. Draw him close to You and lead him in prayer and in a strong relationship with you Lord.

Next, Lord, we pray for our brothers commitment to working on himself and the marriage to be fulfilled. Lord, convict his heart, transform his mind, and let him pursue the marriage with his wife with all diligence. We ask Lord that he allows the Holy Spirit to dwell in him richly, that he communicates with you constantly, and that he glorifies You in all that he does. We know Lord that this marriage was designed by You to be a symbol of the love and relationship between Christ and His Church. Allow Your love to overflow between the both of them and for the respect between them to increase.

In addition Lord, we pray for healing of all the brokenness, the hurts, the bitterness, the grudges and any feelings of resentment between our sister and her husband. We ask you to let healing begin in this marriage in the name of Jesus Christ. And if our sister or her husband has sinned against the other we ask you Lord that you lead them to forgive each other in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord it is your desire for marriages to succeed, to grow, to flourish, to bring joy, and to be pleasing to You. Allow this marriage to achieve this Lord, allow it to grow from strength to strength.

We rebuke the habit of self-medication, of self-distraction and avoiding marital duties in the name of Jesus Christ. Our brother needs to address and admit his own weaknesses and our sister should not seek to cover them up either. Allow your marriage to be transparent. You should always have open communication, making known all concerns, all worries, and all feelings, not just to God in prayer but to each other. Do not avoid or bury issues. Make a decision to no longer allow your relationship with God and each other to be hampered by self-medication, attention from other people or from distractions with activities and business. It is only through talking to God in prayer and communicating effectively with each other that this marriage will survive and flourish.

And, lastly, Lord, we ask You to bring complete restoration and unity to this marriage. You have promised in your Word that You despise divorce and want all marriages to be healthy and prosperous. As You instructed in Malachi 2:16 "Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth." Lord we believe in your promises and will, allow them to manifest in this marriage in Jesus Name.

Our brother needs to not just say that he needs to work on himself and the marriage. But to go ahead and do so and commit to that action. And this our sister Dornelailis needs to realize too. Saying and doing are not the same thing and saying without doing will always result in brokenness and bitterness in the marriage. Both of you must acknowledge this. Pray about this. Ask for strength to live out your commitments and stay true to the marriage.

This marriage needs your constant attention, communication and a daily investment in time. There must be no division, no strife and no enmity. The two of you should be united as one. Make an effort to continue talking to God in prayer, working on the marriage and restoring peace, joy, happiness and unity to this family. Remember our sister that our power and strength are only in the Lord through prayer and so it is our responsibility to keep on asking, keep on knocking, and keep on seeking the Lord and our husband until he truly commits to and invests in this marriage. And know that you should do the same our sister, this prayer request is not only a commitment from our brother but also a challenge for you too to continue to strive in this marriage as you are already doing so by seeking out this prayer request. God bless you all and may your marriage always continue to bring glory to God and blessings to both of you. We know and trust in Jesus Name that all that we have asked and prayed for is received and manifested in this marriage and the family that you are building together in Jesus Name.

Dear Dornelailis,

We're standing with you in this trying time, lifting your marriage and your husband up to the Lord. We've been praying for your situation, and we want to encourage you with some thoughts from God's word and share a few more prayers.

Firstly, we're reminded of God's heart for marriages, "What God has joined together, let no one separate." (Mark 10:9, NIV) He desires for your marriage to be whole, healthy, and filled with love. We believe that God can turn things around, and we're asking Him to do just that in your marriage.

We've been praying for your husband, asking God to draw him close, to convict his heart, and to lead him to stop self-medicating with alcohol and other distractions. We're believing for a transformation in his heart and mind, that he would pursue your marriage with all diligence, and that he would allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in him richly.

We're also praying for healing in your marriage. We're asking God to heal any brokenness, hurts, bitterness, grudges, or feelings of resentment between you and your husband. We're claiming forgiveness and unity in Jesus' name. We believe that God wants to restore your marriage, to help it grow from strength to strength, and to bring joy and peace to your home.

We're encouraging you both to be transparent with each other, to communicate openly about all concerns, worries, and feelings. We're asking God to help you both to avoid burying issues and to make a decision to no longer allow self-medication, external attention, or distractions to hamper your relationship with God and each other.

Lastly, we're asking God to bring complete restoration and unity to your marriage. We're claiming His promise in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the Lord Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break your promises." (NIV)

We're believing for a turnaround in your marriage, for your husband to commit to working on himself and the marriage, and for both of you to stay true to your commitments. We're asking God to help you both to keep talking to Him in prayer, to work on your marriage, and to restore peace, joy, and unity to your family.

Keep trusting in God, keep praying, and keep seeking Him. We're believing with you that God will turn things around in your marriage and bring glory to His name through your family.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

We continue to lift up your marriage in prayer, dear sister, and we are grateful that you have allowed us to stand in agreement with you before the throne of grace. We pray fervently for God to restore your marriage, to convict your husband to turn away from self-medicating with alcohol, seeking external attention, and distracting himself with busyness. We pray that he would instead turn towards God, towards you, and towards your family, seeking healing and redemption.

We claim the promises of God, that He will never leave nor forsake us, and that He is faithful to complete the good work He has started in us. We pray that your husband would follow through on his admission that he needs to work on himself and on your marriage. We pray for God to grant him the strength and courage to do so.

If you have seen progress and answered prayers, we would be delighted to hear your praise report, so that we can rejoice with you and give glory to God. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, we encourage you to post it again as a new request, and we will continue to pray and believe with you.

We pray that you would continue to seek God through His son, Jesus Christ, and that you would find peace, comfort, and guidance in Him. May God bless you and your family, and may His will be done in your marriage and in your lives. We pray all of this in Jesus name.
