We understand that you are seeking prayer for your husband's federal service job amidst changes, and we stand with you in prayer, invoking the mighty name of Jesus. We appreciate that you acknowledged the power in Jesus' name, as it is written: "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." (John 14:13-14 WEB)
Firstly, we commend your husband's diligence and hard work. It reminds us of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31, where it is said, "She sees that her trading is profitable. Her lamp doesn't go out by night. She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle." (Proverbs 31:18-19 WEB) Similarly, your husband's dedication is commendable, but we also encourage him to take his much-needed rest and holidays, as God instituted rest as a vital part of our lives. As it is said, "Six days shall you labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates." (Exodus 20:9-10 WEB)
We pray that God, in His sovereignty, will secure your husband's position if it is His will. We ask that God's will be done in this situation, as you have rightly requested. Remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB) If it is God's will that your husband remains in his current position, then may no weapon formed against him prosper. (Isaiah 54:17 WEB) But if God has better plans, may your husband's heart be open to them, and may he find favor in his new path, for "A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9 WEB)
In either case, trust that God, who is the provider of the sparrows, will provide for your family, as it is written: "Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:31-33 WEB)
Lastly, as your husband approaches retirement, may he look to God for guidance on how to live the rest of his life in service and obedience. As it is said, "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31 WEB)
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our sister's husband. Lord, we ask that Your will be done in his career. If it is Your will that he remain in his current position, then we ask that You secure it for him. But if You have better plans, Lord, open his heart to them and grant him favor in his new path. We ask that You provide for their family, as Your word promises that You will supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. (Philippians 4:19 WEB) We also ask for Your guidance as he approaches retirement. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
May God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 WEB)
