We stand with you in prayer, dear parent, as you lift your son to the Lord. It is heartbreaking to see our loved ones struggle with alcoholism, but we trust that God's love and power can intervene and bring about change.
Firstly, we want to assure you that you are not helpless. God is with you, and He hears your prayers. In Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, it is written, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." So, let us come together in prayer.
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' mighty name, lifting up this beloved son. Lord, You know the struggle he is facing, the bondage of alcoholism that has him bound. We ask for Your divine protection over him, especially as he is drunk and driving. Lord, guide him safely home, and surround him with Your angels to keep him from harm's way.
Lord Jesus, You came to set the captives free. We claim Your promise in John 8:36 WEB, 'So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.' We ask that You break the chains of alcoholism in his life, and bring him to a place of repentance and surrender to Your will.
Lord, we also pray for the friends who tried to help him. May they, too, be guided by Your wisdom and protected from harm. And Lord, comfort this parent's heart. Give them the strength and hope they need to continue trusting in You, even in this difficult time. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your son. Remember, God's word tells us in Galatians 6:9 WEB, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up." Trust that God is at work, even in the darkness.
Lastly, we want to remind you of the power of praying in Jesus' name. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6 WEB). Keep crying out to Jesus, and trust that He hears and cares for you and your son.
