We are truly heartbroken to hear about the struggles of your son, ###. We will stand with you in prayer and believe in the power of God to bring healing and deliverance to his life. It is only through Jesus Christ that we may approach God and seek His divine intervention to help ### with the mental health issues, alcoholism, and psychotic episodes which have plagued his life.
Firstly, we must remember that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea (WEB Psalm 46:1-2). The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
The Bible tells us, "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (WEB Jeremiah 29:11). We believe that God has a purpose and a plan for ###'s life, and we trust that He will make a way where there seems to be no way, and it is not too difficult for him to save ### (WEB Jeremiah 32:27). We must be a people who believe our God can heal the brokenhearted (WEB Psalm 147:3).
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you and lift up ### before your throne of grace. We ask, Lord, that you would have mercy on him and bring healing and deliverance to his mind, body, and spirit. Help ### to be strong and courageous, and to not be afraid or terrified because of these mental health issues and psychotic episodes (WEB Joshua 1:9).
Lord, we pray that you will help ### break down the walls of stigma and silence he has built around him and that he would seek help and accept the support of his family and friends as well as a local Christian body of Believers. Heal his mind as you healed the sick and cast out the demons during Jesus ministry on earth. Replace the tormenting voices with God's still small voice (WEB 1 Kings 19:12-13) Help him to be believing in Jesus Christ (WEB John 11:26).
There is no other name by which we are saved, only by the name of Jesus Christ (WEB Acts 4:12). And it is by Jesus' wounds we are healed (WEB 1 Peter 2:24), and it is through Jesus that we receive the Spirit of God to be our strength and our peace of mind (WEB Acts 2:38). Show ### the love you have for him which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (WEB Romans 8:39). Enable him to understand his need for Jesus in his life. Draw him close to your heart and may the Holy Spirit fill ###'s heart and fill his mind with power and love (WEB 2 Timothy 1:7).
With the alcoholism we pray for the cravings to cease, and the desire for alcohol to be taken away. We need to remember the suffering of Jesus Christ can help ### not continue to sin (WEB 1 Peter 4:1-2). And do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit (WEB Ephesians 5:18).
Give his parents and loved ones the wisdom and strength to support and guide ### through this difficult time. Help ### to understand and follow the way of God and that it will be well with his soul (WEB 1 Peter 2:19-21). Most importantly, give his parents the peace, patience, and comfort that only you, Lord, can provide. In Jesus Name we pray, amen.
Even though ### was raised in a stable Christian home, we must remember that we must each individually work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (WEB Philippians 2:12). We as a group need to pray for ### as a group to enter into the Kingdom of God. Jesus also told us, I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture (WEB John 10:9).
We must be cautious and remember also that Jesus also taught us to be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves" (WEB Matthew 10:16). God's love is open to all people. We should not fight against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (WEB Ephesians 6:12). Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (WEB 1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
Take heart, for God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear (WEB 1 Corinthians 10:13). Continue to trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding (WEB Proverbs 3:5-6). Remember that the fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (WEB James 5:16).
So we will trust and believe in the healing power of Jesus, and continue to pray for ###'s deliverance and restoration. We will draw near to God so that God will draw near to us. We will resist Satan and his demonic forces so they will flee from us (WEB James 4:7-8). Thank you for bringing this request before us so that we may pray for ### together. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them (WEB Matthew 18:20).
