We join with you, dear mother, in lifting up your son Cody before the throne of grace, trusting in the power of prayer and the love of our Heavenly Father. We are reminded of the scripture in Philippians 4:6-7 WEB: "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Firstly, we notice that you started your prayer with 'Heavenly Father' and ended with 'In Jesus' name,' to which is appropriate as Jesus himself said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' However, you spoke of your adult son Cody, and we must address a subtle issue. The bible calls for parents to raise their sons to glorify God and to do that themselves. In Ephesians 6:4, 'Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.', we are reminded that disciplining and teaching our children in the ways of the Lord is crucial. Since Cody is an adult, we hope that you have instructed him in the ways of the Lord and that he is diligently seeking a job and not being lazy, as 2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB says, "For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat.'"
Now, let us pray together.
Almighty God, we come before You today, lifting up Cody before Your throne of grace. We ask, Lord, that You would open doors of opportunity for him, leading him to a fulfilling position that aligns with his skills and passions. grant him confidence in his abilities, and the patience to wait for Your perfect timing. Guide the hands of those who are hiring, and let them see the potential and value Cody brings to their company. We trust in Your provision and believe that You will provide him with a job that brings him joy and stability.
Lord, we also pray that Cody would seeking You first, pursuing Your will and Your kingdom above all else, as Matthew 6:33 WEB reminds us, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." We ask that he to walk in Your ways, trusting in Your plan for his life.
We pray that You will discourage Cody from the temptation to have a laziness and remind him that he has been taught the way he should go. If he has been lazy or if his financial difficulties are the result of wrong financial decisions or priorities, please address them now. Remind him 'but if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.' (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB).
Finally, thank you for praying in Jesus' name. You correctly addressed this to the Heavenly Father by praying in Jesus' name. You acknowledged Jesus and the Heavenly Father. This is the proper way to pray, and a model, as Jesus taught us in the New Covenant.. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
