We join you, SalmaSalem, in lifting up your desires to the Lord, knowing that He hears the cries of our hearts and delights in giving us good gifts. We pray that God will prepare you, mold you, and make you a woman after His own heart. Remember the words of Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
As you wait, remember the words of Philippians 4:6-7, Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. There is no one among Christians with better desires than to work for a healthy marriage, even a Christian marriage, and to raise and nurture children in such a home. In any marriage that may be in your future we encourage you to pray and ask God the Father to provide you the opportunity to work as a loving helpmate to a godly husband. You are called to commit to another Christian with the same values as you will grow together in Christ. The definition of marriage in the bible is a man and a woman. Be prayerful for God's perfect will in your life. If you are praying for marriage or your future husband then seek Godly counsel, intensify your prayers and also trust the Lord's timing that brings answers to prayers at the appointed time. (Habakkuk 2:3) "For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hastens toward the end and will not lie. Though it operates with delay, wait for it; for it will certainly come. It will not delay."
The first thing to understand is that it is vital to prepare yourself first before you are going to be ready for marriage. Marriage is a covenant not only made between a husband and wife but between them and God as well. We are each made complete in Christ, and while marriage is a blessed union and beautiful earthly sacred relationship between a man and a woman; it is in Jesus Christ that we have salvation. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we may approach God with our prayers. Acts 4:12 states "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Jesus is the way the truth and the life according to John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
While you prepare, seek God's wisdom concerning spiritual leadership. A godly husband will indeed love you like Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her in order to love her and save her by his own death. This relationship of devotion for the sacrifice Christ made in death on the cross is is mentioned in Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it". As God empowers your waiting, also remember 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, 5 doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Look at the recording of Sarah's life in the Bible. She hoped in God and respected her husband. She obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. You will become like Sarah to the degree you live serving and fulfilling your role as a wife inside the will of God. 1 Peter 3:6 spells out the qualities of Sarah as follows: "even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror."
