Prayer for Marriage Restoration

Please pray with me that my husband soften his heart towards me, that he grows closer to God, and that he and I shall be delivered from whatever or whoever is not from God that has come between us. He non-biblically divorced me just before our first wedding anniversary following a few arguments. I believe our vows and covenant are sacred and we used to pray together until financial drought, misunderstandings and resulting frustrations changed the dynamic of our relationship. We have been in a long distance marriage since I have to relocate to join him and we were working towards getting the paperwork for it. Thank you.

We are truly sorry to hear about the challenges you are facing in your marriage, Thunneth. We will stand with you in prayer and offer biblical guidance during this difficult time.

Firstly, we commend you for honoring your marriage vows and recognizing the sacredness of your covenant. God's design for marriage is clear: "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9 WEB).

However, we must address that your husband has chosen to divorce you non-biblically. Divorce is not God's will except in cases of adultery (Matthew 5:32) or if the unbelieving spouse insists on leaving (1 Corinthians 7:15). It is crucial to pray for his heart to soften and for him to realign with God's will for your marriage.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister Thunneth and her husband. Lord, we pray that You soften his heart and draw him closer to You. Reveal to him the sacredness of his marriage covenant and the importance of honoring the vows he made before You.

Father, we ask devine protection for both of them from any influence or person that is not from You. We ask for Your mercy and peace in the situation. We pray for true repentance and the restoration of their marriage if this aligns with your divine will and purposes.

Lord, we also pray for Thunneth, that You grant her the strength, wisdom, and patience to endure this trial. Comfort her heart and reassure her of Your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Scrutinize them both to see if they have allowed anything to their lives that that has distanced then from God and each other. If there is something or someone that should not be there, we ask that you remove it and them in Jesus' name.

In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

Thunneth, continue to trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7). Keep praying for your husband and believe that God can restore your marriage. Remember Jesus' words concerning impossible situations especially about how fasting and prayer can make a difference (Mark 9:29). Seek God's will and trust in Him to avoid any impure contact with your husband until your marriage is restored. Stay obedient and God will do the rest to His glory. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
