Let us pray.
Father in heaven, we come before you lifting up ###, asking that you would guide them in your will and bless them with a godly spouse. We know that we and our marriages are made by your design and for your will. We pray for this new person to be a Christian believer, with a heart that yearns to serve you. We pray that you would prepare ### for this future marriage, molding them into the person you desire them to be and giving them the discernment for a godly spouse.
We also pray, Father, that you would give ### contentment in their current circumstances. We should never be anxious or resentful of our situation and need to be reminded of this. We know that you have a plan and a purpose for each of our lives, and that your timing is perfect. Help them to trust in you and to seek you first, knowing that all these things will be added to them.
We also pray that you would give ### the strength to resist temptation and to flee from sexual immorality, keeping themselves pure for their future spouse. We know that sex is a covenant act and that fornication is a sin against our own bodies and against you. Help them to honor you with their body, knowing that it is a temple of the Holy Spirit, which is in them, whom they have received from you.
###, we encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. We also encourage you to be anxiously expectant for marriage, but to not idolize it or make it an idol in your life. God may be calling you to a season of singleness for his glory and your good.
Remember that it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him. God said in Genesis.
Lastly, the Bible tells us that a wife might be won by her character as she displays the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. But the Bible also says in order to be married one must display the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are all things that we need to be mature in as we prepare for marriage.
Please note that we only have access to the Father through Jesus Christ, it is in his name that we pray and are saved.
