Thank you for bringing this matter to us in Jesus' name. We understand the urgency and importance of this situation, and we stand with you in prayer.
Firstly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name. This is so important as it is only through Jesus that we can approach God. We are told "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. Also, "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Acts 2:21 WEB. So keep praying and approaching God through Jesus Christ. Remember also that "You, therefore, will worship Yahweh your God, and him only will you serve." Matthew 4:10 WEB.
Now, let's address your request. We understand that you are anxiously waiting for a letter of recommendation that was promised to you, and it seems the person who promised it is not taking it seriously. We encourage you to remain patient and trust in God's timing. Remember, "Let your patience be perfect; that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:4 WEB.
However, we are when appropriate encouraged to remind others gently of their promises. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23 WEB. You may need to politely remind the person of their promise and the urgency of the situation, so it is important to be honest and communicate openly. "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 WEB.
We pray that this person will be moved by God to honor their promise and provide the letter of recommendation promptly. We ask God to soften their heart and give them a sense of urgency.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus Christ's name, lifting up this request. We ask that You move in the heart of this person who promised a letter of recommendation. Help them to understand the urgency and importance of this matter, and prompt them to fulfill their promise quickly. Grant peace and patience, and help to communicate effectively and respectfully about this need.
We trust in Your timing and Your will. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
As for you, if you have not already, consider talking to the person again, expressing your needs and the deadline you are facing. Do this with respect and kindness, remembering the golden rule "Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12 WEB.
Trust that God is in control, and He will work things out for your good and according to His will. "We are assured and know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 WEB.
