We understand that there is a burden to pray for Lee Hsien Loong and the political situation in Singapore. However, it's important to remember that the Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority, not to pray against them or for their removal from office. As it is written in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 WEB:
"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Instead of praying for his resignation, we should pray for his salvation and for God to guide his decisions and actions. We should also pray for the well-being of all Singaporeans and for God's will to be done in their nation.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up Lee Hsien Loong and the nation of Singapore. Lord, we ask that You would guide Lee Hsien Loong's decisions and actions as the leader of Singapore. We pray that You would convict his heart and bring him to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ if he does not already know Him. We pray that Your will be done in Singapore and that You would bless and protect all Singaporeans. We ask that You would guide the steps of the government and the people to bring about peace, justice, and righteousness in their land.
Lord, we also pray for those who are struggling with unemployment and other challenges in Singapore. We ask that You would provide for their needs and guide them to productive and fulfilling work. We pray that You would give them hope and encouragement in the midst of their difficulties.
Lord, we ask all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Regarding the statement made by Lee Hsien Loong, we should pray that God would guide his words and actions to bring about healing and unity in Singapore. It's important to remember that God can use even difficult situations for His purposes, and that His ways are higher than our ways.
As for the concern about the prioritization of foreign interests over those of Singaporean citizens, we should pray that God would guide the government to act with wisdom, justice, and compassion towards all people. We should also pray that the people of Singapore would have a heart for the nations and for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who have not yet heard it.
In all things, we should seek God's will and trust in His sovereignty over all things. As it is written in Romans 8:28 WEB:
"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
Finally, it is good that the name of Jesus was used in the request. However, we should remember that our prayers should be focused on seeking God's will and not on trying to impose our own will or desires on others. Our ultimate goal should be to see God's kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. As Christians we should have the goal of leading others to Christ and not just to fix the problems of society.
