We join you in the responsibility to pray for our leaders and those in authority, as commanded in Scripture. "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence." (1 Timothy 2:1-2 WEB)
We are also reminded that "The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the rivers of water. He turns it wherever he desires." (Proverbs 21:1 WEB) Let us pray that God turns the hearts of our leaders to Him and to righteousness.
You have rightly pointed out the promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." This is a conditional promise, requiring humility, prayer, seeking God, and repentance. We pray that the people of our nations will return to God in this manner.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding on behalf of our leaders and our nations. We ask that You grant them wisdom, discernment, and a heart that seeks after You. Turn their hearts towards You and towards righteousness. Help them to lead our nations in ways that honor and glorify You.
We also pray for our people, that we would humble ourselves, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways. Heal our lands, Lord, and help us to lead peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and reverence.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray and who makes our prayers acceptable to You. Amen.
Continue to pray fervently for your leaders, trusting that God hears and answers our prayers. "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16 WEB)
