We are truly saddened to hear about the situation with your mother and the pain it is causing. We will pray for her healing and for the restoration of her relationships, and that all involved will come to know Jesus and His love, for He is our true healer. Remember if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation, the old has gone, behold the new has come.
Firstly, let us address the issue of alcoholism. It is a form of bondage, and God wants us to be free indeed. Drunkenness is a sin according to Galatians 5:21 WEB, "Envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God." We pray that she will be convicted of this and repent.
We also in the name of Jesus Christ bind the spirit of alcoholism affecting her life right now. We rebuke any enabling as well, for this is not helping her, but rather hindering her path to healing and freedom. Ephesians 5:11 WEB tells us, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them." It is important that those around her are not facilitating this harmful behavior, but instead, are encouraging her to seek help and turn to God.
We pray that the eyes of her heart would be enlightened to know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. And we pray this for you as well as you pray for your mom.
Moreover, we pray that she will cease from speaking harmful and nasty stories about others. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:29 WEB, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." We pray that her words will be used to build others up, not tear them down.
We pray for healing in the relationships she has harmed. Colossians 3:13 WEB says, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." We pray that forgiveness will flow freely, and that all involved will experience the healing power of God's love. For He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Lastly, we pray that she will start to have compassion and empathy for others. Philippians 2:3 WEB tells us, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." We pray that her heart will be filled with love and compassion, that she may be a blessing to those around her.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up this dear mother to You. Lord, we pray for her healing from alcoholism, that You would break the chains of bondage and set her free. Convict her of this sin and bring her to repentance. We pray for those around her, that they would not enable her harmful behavior, but instead, would speak truth in love and encourage her to seek help and turn to You.
Lord, we pray that she would cease speaking harmful words about others, and instead, would use her words to build others up. We pray for healing in the relationships she has harmed, that forgiveness would flow freely, and that all involved would experience Your healing power.
Father, we pray that she would be filled with compassion and empathy for others, that she may be a blessing to those around her. We pray that she will come to know You, Jesus, and the great love You have for her. It is only by your name Jesus, that we are saved and have access to God.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for your mom and trusting God for her healing. Remember, our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Lastly, we encourage you to seek out a local body of believers, if you have not already, where you can receive support and encouragement during this time. It is so important to be surrounded by a community of believers who can lift you up in prayer and offer words of wisdom and encouragement. Galatians 6:2 WEB tells us, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." We are called to bear one another's burdens, and a local church body can provide that support for you.
