We understand that you're seeking a change in mindset and freedom from repetitive sin. Let's begin by turning to God's Word for guidance and encouragement. Romans 12:2 reminds us, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Firstly, we must acknowledge that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God". Being saved by Jesus Christ from the bondage of sin and being set free from a life of sin is the first step and most important step to stop repetitively sinning. If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please do so. Pray this prayer:
Dear God,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don't please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.
Amen
The Bible also reminds us that everyone who is born of God does not continue in sin 1 John 3:9, "Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he can't sin, because he is born of God.". If you are saved, then sin has no power over you. God wants to heal and transform you, giving you a new perspective and the self-discipline to overcome sin.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in need of a changed mindset and freedom from repetitive sin. We ask, in the name of Jesus Christ, that You grant them a fresh perspective and the self-discipline to overcome the temptations they face. Help them Lord to be like the Psalmist who would say Psalm 101:3, "I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of those who fall away. It will not cling to me.".
Father, we know that sin has no power over us Romans 6:14, "For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace. " and that he whom the Son has set free is free indeed John 8:36.
Transform their mind, Lord, according to Your will. Renew their thoughts and give them the strength to resist the enemy's lies. Help them to be like Jesus, who when He was reviled, did not revile in return and when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to You who judges righteously 1 Peter 2:23.
We ask these things in Jesus name. Amen.
