We understand your concern for your granddaughter Emma, and we're here to join you in prayer and provide biblical guidance.
Let's remember what the Scripture says about the importance of wisdom and diligence: "How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding. For her profit is better than the profit of silver, and her gain than fine gold." (Proverbs 3:13-14 WEB) and "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might" (Ecclesiastes 9:10 WEB).
Emma needs to understand that her academics should be a priority, as it is a responsibility given to her by God at this stage of her life. It's not about just pleasing her dad or avoiding punishment, but about honoring God in all she does. "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Colossians 3:23 WEB).
However, we also want to encourage Emma and her father to communicate openly about this. Dad should express his disappointment in a loving way, ensuring Emma understands that his actions are out of love and a desire to see her do well. "Fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4 WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up Emma to you. Lord, we ask that you fill her with a desire to learn and to do her best in school. Help her to understand the importance of her studies and to prioritize them accordingly. Give her wisdom and understanding, Lord, and help her to see that her efforts bring glory to you. Soften her father's heart and help him to communicate his disappointment in a loving way. We ask that their relationship would grow stronger through this, and that Emma would grow in responsibility and maturity.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage both you and Emma to keep praying and trusting in the Lord. He hears our prayers and acts according to His good will. "Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6 WEB)
