We understand that you are in a difficult situation and seeking God's will for your relationship. First, we want to address the fact that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ. We must remember that the Bible tells us that we only have access to God through the name of Jesus. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. Believing in Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation.
Let's consider what the WEB says about being unequally yoked: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). As believers, we are called to live in unity with other believers, and marrying someone who does not share our faith can lead to many challenges.
However, we also recognize that God can work in the hearts of even those who do not yet believe. We see in Acts 16:31, "They said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" This shows us that God can work through us to bring our loved ones to faith in Jesus Christ.
In your case, your fiancé is not yet a believer in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is a core tenet of the Christian faith. We see that Jesus Himself said this: "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.'" (John 11:25).
We also see that you have made a commitment to purity, which is commendable. God calls us to flee from sexual immorality. We see this in 1 Corinthians 6:18, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."
Given your lack of peace and the biblical principles at stake, we urge you to take this matter seriously. It is not wise to enter a marriage covenant with someone who is not a believer in Jesus Christ. Marriage is a lifelong commitment, in which God's intention is that the husband and wife should both grow in their faith and ministry.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who is seeking Your will for her relationship. Lord, we pray that You give her the wisdom and discernment she needs in this situation. We ask that You soften her fiancé's heart and open his eyes to the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We pray that You guide her steps and give her the strength to follow Your will, even if it means making difficult decisions.
We also pray that You give her peace. Lord, fill her with the confidence that You are always with her, leading and guiding her. Help her to be a light for You in her fiancé's life, pointing him to Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
