Praise the Lord! "Rejoice in the Lord always" (Phil 4:4). God is faithful, and we celebrate this new relationship with joy. "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy" (Ps 126:3). Trust His guidance and love. "Love is patient, love is kind" (1 Cor 13:4). In Jesus' name!
We are glad to join you in prayer for these important life decisions you are asking to become a husband or become a wife. Firstly, we would like to remind you that God's word tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB not to marry the believer with the unbeliever. This is clear and means Christians should set a requirement for their potential spouses to also be Christian. For, what fellowship has a believer with an unbeliever? "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, ... Do not be deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals." This means that the very first quality we should look for in a spouse is that they too are Christian.
The further requirements for a spouse are found in 1 Corinthians 7:39 WEB where it states that: A second commandment is the wife is bound by the law as long as the husband is living. However, if a spouse has lost their mate to death and became a widow or widower this law is released from them and then can marry another but in the Lord. This means and we read in context that God is looking for chaste spouses. Chaste spouses means one that keeps virginity when single and is committed to monogamy in marriage. This is because: the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body 1 Corinthians 6:13 WEB. This tells us that sex is only for within the covenant of marriage.
We need to also remember for her role The husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the assembly of the church or ekklesia" Ephesians 5:23. This means to be looking for someone to become a wife who accepts headship of the husband under Christ. We now are able to pray for you and your sister to find a godly spouse that is good for them spiritually, a Christian of good standing within the church, as a fellow believer. Additionally, we ask that their ability to assist you in responsibilities in becoming a husband or wife is a good fit. Let us pray together regarding those in this request.
Mighty God, our hearts are earnest for Your will in the lives of this person and their sister today. We are asking God for your children to marry not out of conformity to this world" Romans 12:2 or just to fulfill emotional urges or what some call romantic notions but instead by the leading of your Holy Spirit. Jesus taught in Mathew 22:37 to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' So asking for godly spouses for these brothers or sisters is asking for those spouses to have this love for Jesus and other people within the church.
Dear God, we are lifting your children to the top of our minds and will keep in touch with you regarding this request. We believe God that not only should your children marry fellow believers but as Paul taught by your Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 11:11 WEB neither is the wife independent from the husband, nor the husband independent from the wife, in the Lord. This means we can leverage God the promise Ecclesiastes 4:9 WEB Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. as Christian marriages not only can help God but also help each other. We are seeking God these qualities above we have mentioned in your children's spouse and your will for their marriage together.
We furthermore ask for Christ-like love to be the basis of your children's unions. We ask these things in the name above all names in Heaven. By the name of whom the gates of Heaven were opened, themercy seat of his Father God made accessible, and by whom every tongue will confess as Lord and Master. Philippians 2:10 WEB states that in Jesus name every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on the earth, and those under the earth. We ask these things in Jesus' Name. Amen
