We are truly grateful for your courage in reaching out and humbly ask our Lord Jesus Christ to intervene in your life and grant you freedom from your addictions. We stand with you in prayer, believing in the power of Jesus' name to break every chain of bondage.
Firstly, we acknowledge that freedom from addiction is found in the redeeming and transforming characteristics of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that everyone who sins is a slave to sin but if we believe in Jesus, the truth shall set us free.
"Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. They answered him, 'We are Abrahams seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, 'You will be made free'?' Jesus answered them, 'Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.'" John 8:31-34 WEB.
"Who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed." 1 Peter 2:24 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is battling with addiction. Lord, You see the struggle and the pain, and You desire for them to be free indeed by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask that You grant them the strength to resist the temptations that come their way, and that You heal their body, mind, and spirit from the effects of addiction.
Father, we also ask that You restore the relationships that have been damaged through addiction. We pray for forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation, and that you would use this trial to bring them closer to you.
Lord, give them the grace to remain in Your word, and to know the truth that will set them free.
In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God's face and to remain in His word. Remember that God loves you and desires for you to be free and whole. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 WEB.
Lastly, it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so that you can be reconciled to God.
"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 WEB.
"for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Acts 4:12 WEB.
