Prayer for Feuding Sons

Prayer request for my sons, ### & ###. They are not on speaking terms. They are so embittered toward each other and each refuses to accept accountability for his actions. As a result, they speak very poorly of each other to anyone who asks. It's almost as if they hate one another - which I pray to God is not the case. Each is waiting for the other to apologize; however, neither will be the first to do so. It breaks my heart a little more each day to see the divide widening. I pray every day for reconciliation. It has been a year and reconciliation still hasn't happened. I haven't given up hope as I know the Lord is working on them. His timing, not mine. Please (also) pray for this momma of two adult sons (### & ###).

We join you, ###, in fervent prayer for your sons C & A, and for your own heart as you navigate this challenging time. The Bible tells us, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32 WEB).

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up C & A. We ask, Lord, that You soften their hearts and bring conviction where there is stubbornness and pride. Help them to see each other as You see them, Lord—with love, compassion, and forgiveness. Break down the walls of bitterness and resentment, and help them to take responsibility for their actions. Bring them to a place of humility, where they can apologize and forgive as You have forgiven us.

Lord, we also lift up ###, the mother of these two sons. Comfort her, Lord, and give her peace and patience as she waits for Your timing. Strengthen her faith and give her hope for reconciliation. Fill her with Your love and wisdom as she prays and interacts with her sons.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you, ###, to continue in steadfast prayer. Remember, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much" (James 5:16 WEB). Keep trusting in God's timing and His will for your sons. As Psalm 27:14 WEB tells us, "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh."

It is essential to remind your sons that forgiveness is not a matter of who acts first but a matter of obedience to God. As it is written, "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift" (Matthew 5:23-24 WEB). Encourage them to take the initiative, not out of pride or to prove a point, but out of love and obedience to God.

Lord Jesus, we bring ### & ### before You today. We ask that You would give them hearts that are open and willing to listen. Help them to see each other through Your eyes, Lord - with love, patience, and understanding. Stir up in them a desire for reconciliation, and help them to take the first step, no matter how small. We believe that You are working in their lives, Lord, and we trust in Your perfect timing.

We're also praying for you, ###. We know this is hard, but we're here with you. We claim Isaiah 43:2 over you, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." You are not alone in this.

Let's keep encouraging each other to keep praying, keep trusting, and keep loving, just as You've loved us, Lord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

God heal me, body, soul, and spirit. Cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
