We understand that you desire a good relationship with your parents and want them to be involved in your daughter's activities. It's important to remember that the family is the most fundamental institution established by God. It is the primary environment for nurturing and developing character and faith. We are instructed in Colossians 3:13, But now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth. 14 Love the Lord, all you his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, and fully recompenses him who behaves arrogantly. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off the old man with his doings, 9 and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator, 15 and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. 17 Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.
First, we must honor our parents, as instructed in Ephesians 6:2, Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise. However, it's also crucial to maintain our own values and values of faith, especially when it comes to raising our children. It's great you did not mention anything bad about your parents so it seems you are honoring them and wishing to continue to do so.
Let's pray for your family:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family. We pray for healing and reconciliation between parents and their child, and we ask that You would draw them closer together. Lord, we ask that You would soften their hearts and give them a desire to be involved in their granddaughter's life and activities. Help them to see the importance of their role and the impact they can have on her life and their child.
We also pray for wisdom and guidance. We ask that You would help them make decisions that align with Your will and Your word. We pray that You would help their child to trust you and look to you for their satisfaction and not an approval or desire for their parents to come to their daughter's banquet. Help them to honor their parents but also know that their parents can make their own decisions. We pray You will be the center of their family, guiding them to do all in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to You.
We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
