We are thrilled to hear that you and your fiancée have taken the step towards marriage, and we are here to support you both in prayer and guidance. However as we can see there are some issues already. Long-distance relationships can indeed be challenging, but with God at the center, all things are possible. Let's turn to the Word of God for guidance and encouragement.
Firstly, it's crucial to remember that God should be the foundation of your relationship. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 4:12, "If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble." This verse underscores the importance of being united in purpose and support, even when physically apart.
In regards to the stress and depression you both are feeling, we encourage you to cast your anxieties on the Lord. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
However, we must address something important. You mentioned that you are depressed as a man being home alone without her. While it's natural to miss your fiancée, it's important to find your completeness in God, not in your relationship. As the Psalmist David states in Psalm 127:2 "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones." It is through trust in God alone that we can find peace and a sense of belonging.
Moreover, as you prepare for marriage, it's essential to keep your relationship pure and holy. If you have not already, we encourage you to commit to abstaining from sexual immorality until marriage. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 reminds us, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor."
Lastly, we want to remind you of the power of praying together, even when you're apart. Matthew 18:20 tells us, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this couple who have committed to each other and are preparing for a life together. Lord, we ask that You be the center of their relationship, guiding them through the challenges of distance and stress. Comfort them in their struggles, and remind them of Your unfailing love and presence.
Help them to trust in You completely, and to find their completeness in You alone. Guide them as they navigate their long-distance relationship, and give them the strength to remain pure and holy in their courtship.
We ask all of this in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (if they had not mentioned him by name, IJN) . Amen.
In closing, remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have salvation. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you have not already, make sure to commit your lives and your relationship to Jesus Christ. Believe and confess in Him that He died on the cross to save us from our sins and rose again from the dead to give us eternal life with Him. Be saved today and put your faith in Jesus Christ.
