Prayer for Preparation
Father, I ask that You would prepare my heart for this job interview. Prepare my mind and bring it to rest. Prepare my skills, and resume. If I am lacking anything, bring it to my remembrance. If there are any additional details that I am missing, please lead me to them and give me what I need to handle them.
Prepare my interviewer and speak to him or her. Speak to that individual on behalf of this opportunity. But ultimately, speak to him or her about Your glorious love and Kingdom. Prepare me in humility, willingness, and servanthood.
Prepare me physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. Give me all that I need to live above reproach and to walk out this life of Godliness. Prepare a way before me that I may walk in. Bring Your word and truth to guide me in all ways. Psalm 119:105 declares, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” May this be true of my life.
Prayer of Wisdom
Lord, give me wisdom concerning my interview. You say in Proverbs 2:6, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Then, in James 1:5 You state, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
I come before You in humility and boldness, trusting in Your goodness and Your promise. You said that You would give wisdom generously, so please pour out Your heavenly wisdom to equip me for this interview and work that I will do.
Grant me wisdom in my interactions with the interviewer, employer, and my future coworkers. Teach me how to walk in Your everlasting way to bring glory to Your name. Equip me with wisdom so that my speech, actions, thoughts, motivations, and interactions are pure.
Additionally, help me to recognize Your wisdom over the world’s wisdom as seen in James 3:17. “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
Prayer for Favor with Interviewer
God, grant me favor with the interviewer I will be speaking with. Help our conversation to be encouraging. May my words be a blessing to the interviewer. Proverbs 16:24 declares, “Kind words are like honey — sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”
Give me the words to say and the wisdom that I need in this interaction. Make my words sweet and healthy. Use them to bring healing in the interviewer’s life if they are in need. Help me know what to say and what not to say. Go before me in this interaction.
Please bring a positive encounter and response after the interview. However, use this time for much more than a job. Use this time to bring Your Kingdom to earth. Use me as Your vessel of truth and light. Open up the right doors and conversations so that I may make an impact. Bring this impact through Your Spirit and not through my own good intentions or actions. Only through Your Spirit Lord.
Bring life where there was once death. Bring life into this area of my life where there has been a struggle. Help me to maintain a steady job that provides for my needs and the needs of my family. Help me also to provide for the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and relational needs of those around me.
Prayer for Growth
Lord, I ask that You would grow me, even if growth is difficult and challenging. If I am not ready for this position, grow me so that I am. If I get this job and do not have all the tools that I need, bring growth until I do. Teach me and lead me in practical ways.
Develop my hard and soft skills. Increase my integrity, work ethic, and effectiveness. Help me to be a quick learner and to develop the skills and education that I need for this job. Open up opportunities for me to continue to grow in this company if I do get the job.
Bless me so that I may bless others. But, give me a pure heart and pure motivations so that I am not tempted to use my position or blessings for personal gain or pride.
May Colossians 3:23-24 be true of me. That I may follow the command, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Lead me to live a life like that of Colossians 3:17. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” I long to do all things for You. In the areas that I am not joyfully submitted to You, bring me into new revelation and understanding that leads me to Your goodness and truth.
Prayer for Peace
Good Father, I am nervous about my interview. I am nervous that I will not have the qualifications, works to say, or what I need to succeed. I am also scared that if this position doesn’t open up that I will be left in a hard predicament. Lord, You know my needs before I even cry out to You.
In Matthew 6:8b Jesus explained, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” Father, You know what I need even more than I know what I need. Please supply my needs according to Your wisdom. Give me peace in the areas that I lack it. Give me the strength to overcome this anxiety, fear, and worry. Grow my trust so that I can freely place all of these emotions, thoughts, and feelings into Your hands.
Your word declares, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
I choose to bring all of this before You. I thank You for Your continued faithfulness throughout history and throughout my life. Also, I trust Your word and who You say You are. You are good and You are working in this world to bring Your goodness on earth as it is in heaven.
Lastly, I ask that You would give me Your peace at all times and in every way as scripture states in 2 Thessalonians 3:16. “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”
All-powerful God, I pray that you would give me success in my job interview. Give me confidence Lord, to speak clearly, and to answer the questions with wisdom. My confidence in life is not based on my own strength or performance but it is rooted in you. ... Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Therefore may it please You to bless the house (descendants) of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for what You bless, O Lord, is blessed forever.”
