We understand your feelings of distress and desire for justice, but we must remind you of the teachings of Scripture regarding vengeance and blessings for our enemies. The WEB tells us, For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19
First, we must ensure that our hearts are in the right place. The Bible tells us to, Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse. Romans 12:14. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and do not turn away from him who desires to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:41-44
We do not need to be afraid or fret, as those who act unjustly will indeed face God's judgment. We can trust in His justice and His timing. Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses. Nehemiah 4:14
Instead of cursing, let us pray for these individuals and trust God to deal with them according to His will.
Heavenly Father, we lift up all those who seek to harm us or separate us from You without cause. We do not take vengeance into our own hands, but trust in Your perfect justice. We pray that You will bless our enemies, and that we will walk in Your ways and live according to Your will. Help us, Lord, to be a blessing and to reflect Christ in our lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to focus on the goodness of God and His love for you. Trust that He will take care of all that concerns you. But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. Jude 1:20-21
