Prayer for deliverance from homosexuality

Hi, I would like to pray for deliverance from homosexuality. Homosexuality is caused by soul wounds (for those who don’t know). It’s tiring living with these perverted thoughts & I would like to be free from it.

We are glad you have reached out for prayer and support. Firstly, it is important to address that homosexuality is indeed a sin according to biblical principles. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB, it is clearly stated: "Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."

However, it is crucial to understand that while God condemns the sin, He loves the sinner. You are not defined by your struggles, but by your identity in Christ. As Romans 7:15-20 WEB shows, even the Apostle Paul struggled with sin, but he did not let it define him. "For I do not know what I am doing. For I do not practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. But if what I do not desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I do not find it doing that which is good. For the good which I desire, I do not do; but the evil which I do not desire, that I do. But if what I do not desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me."

Deliverance comes from acknowledging your sin, repenting, and turning to Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we can be saved and set free. As Acts 4:12 WEB states, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."

Let us pray for you:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in their struggle against homosexuality. We acknowledge that this is a sin, but we also acknowledge Your unfailing love and mercy. Lord, we pray for deliverance. We pray that You would heal the soul wounds that have led to this struggle. We pray that You would fill our brother/sister with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the strength to resist temptation and to walk in Your ways. We pray that You would guide them to a life of purity and holiness, as You have called us all to live. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."

Remember, God is with you in this struggle. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust in Him, and He will guide you through. As 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

Lastly Anonymous, you said that homosexuality is caused by soul wounds. However, it is a result of sin, not caused by soul wounds.

We're here for you, and we're praying with you today. We understand the struggle feels tiring, but remember, Jesus sees you, and He's right there with you. In Matthew 11:28-30, He says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Let's claim that promise together.

We're not defined by our struggles, but by who we are in Christ. As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." We're praying that you'll experience that newness and freedom in Christ today.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
