Heavenly Father,
I pray for an office manager named Debbon. Lord Jesus, I believe she may be confused about her current marriage vows. I don't know her story, but having overheard her talk to guests on occasion tells me she is divorced and married to someone new. I've heard her say to guests when "My husband, no my ex-husband" in regards to conversing about practical matters in life may be confusing to them. Men who preach about marriage and remarriage being adultery say they need to be severed. They also believe it will be painful and will affect a lot of their close family, but the gain is Christ. This woman has photos of grandchildren at her desk. There has not been an appropriate time to say anything, but I have heard her share an interest in going back to church. Father God, the books of Jude, Peter, Paul, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Matthew 24 warn believers of the many false teachers, prophets, and ministers that will be misleading many, and if possible even the elect. Because of the lack of true shepherding and Godly counsel, 2 Peter 2, Jeremiah 23, and other men of God have written about the doom of false teachers. Those who counseled re-marriages knowing their other spouse is alive and did not heed a serious warning to the ones seeking re-marriage will be held in stricter judgment according to James 3:1.
"Peter sorrows that the immorality of pseudo-Christian sects will bring reproach upon the true faith."(Guthrie, Motyer, Stibbs, Wiseman, The New Bible Commentary Revised (WM. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co.), 1254-1255.
