We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles your cousin is facing, but we are thankful you have reached out for prayer. We are reminded in Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Firstly, we need to emphasize the power of praying in the name of Jesus. It is only through His name that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” If your cousin has not already accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that they would come to know Him personally.
Regarding your cousin’s struggles, we must address that turning to drugs is not a solution for grief or depression. In fact, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” We need to be sober and vigilant against the devil's schemes.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our ### who is battling grief, depression, and drug use. Lord, we know that You are a God of comfort and healing. We pray that You would wrap Your loving arms around our ### and provide the comfort and strength needed to overcome these challenges.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction and depression in the name of Jesus. We pray that you break the chains of addiction in our ###'s life, and grant them the grace to seek help and support.
Lord, we also pray for our ###’s salvation if they are not already in a relationship with You. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them and draw them to You.
Help our ### to fix their eyes on You, trusting that You have a plan and a purpose for their life. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue supporting your ### and guiding them towards professional help if necessary. Remind them of God’s unfailing love and that He is always with them, even in the darkest times. As it is written in Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
