It's also crucial to be open to different types of friendships. In 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (WEB), we are encouraged to "edify one another, even as you also do." This means that friendships should be built on mutual encouragement and growth. Be patient and discerning as you seek out these connections.
We also want to remind you of the importance of being a friend to others. Proverbs 18:24 (WEB) tells us that "a man who has friends must show himself friendly." As you look for supportive friends, make sure you're also being supportive to those around you.

Help them to be discerning and patient as they seek out these relationships. Give them the strength and courage to be a good friend to others, just as Jesus is a friend to us. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect.
